Walter McCoy “Coy” Cooke, 74, passed away, Sunday, December 7, 2014. He was born in Wake County on July 27, 1940 to the late Walter Aaron Cooke and Clara Bell Holden Cooke. He graduated from Rolesville High School in 1958, then went on to serve his country in the US Army. Coy was a retired mail carrier, farmer and entrepreneur. He loved his country, was a strong supporter of family values, religious rights and politics.
Funeral service 11:00 am, Thursday, December 11, 2014 Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church, 3328 Forestville Road, Raleigh, 27616. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, 27545 and other times at the home.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Peggy Daniel Cooke; daughter, Alicia C. Butler (Marvin); son, Walter Britton Cooke; grandchildren: Thomas and Matthew Butler, Aaron and Avery Cooke; sister, Jane C. Blake and her family, Michael and Jessica Blake, Emma and Will.
