William S. Lachicotte, 66, died December 3, 2014 at UNC Neurological Hospital.
Born April 29, 1948 in Charlotte, NC, he was the son of the late William Shannon Lachicotte, Sr. and Lucia Bates Lachicotte.
Survivors include his two sisters, Mary L. Young and husband Victor and Lucia B. Lachicotte, both of Pawleys Island, SC; his honorary sister, Dorothy Holland of Chapel Hill; and nephews Victor P. Young, III of Pawleys Island, SC; Michael J. Young of Concord, NC; and D. Blair Young and wife Kim of Wrightsville Beach, NC.
Bill received his PhD from UNC – Chapel Hill in 1992. As a medical anthropologist and Adjunct Associate Professor, he did research and taught in UNC’s Anthropology Department. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University and an author and co-author of numerous publications.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held Saturday evening, December 13, 2014, in Chapel Hill. Details will be posted at www.caringbridge.com/billlachicotte. A memorial page has also been established for him at www.never-gone.com so that friends can share their memories.
