James Vinson Proctor, age 92, died Monday afternoon at his home. Born April 10, 1922 in Lincoln County he was a son of the late Spencer Page and Lossie Vinson Proctor. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Proctor; and a sister, Julia Proctor McInnis. James was a decorated Veteran of the United States Army where he proudly served his country in World War II during the European Campaign 3rd Division under General George Patton. He was a member of Wilson’s Mills Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and Deacon, American Legion, and the Amen Corner at McDonald’s. James retired from Southern Life Insurance after over 30 years of service.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2014 in the Vinson Family Cemetery, 160 Stewart Lane, Clayton, NC, with Rev. Dr. Lea Slaton and Rev. Billie Lawson officiating.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Casey Proctor of the home; daughters, Ann Proctor Ennis and husband Wayne, and Katherine Vinson Proctor Ellis, all of Wilson’s Mills; sister, Lucille Proctor Osborn of Jamestown; and grandchildren, David Ennis and wife Charlie of Four Oaks, Kristen Ennis and daughter, Paige Lee of Wilson’s Mills, James Clayton Ellis of Bozeman, MT, and Kameron Spencer Ellis of Fuquay Varina;
