Linda Perry Jones, 93, of S. First Street died on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at her home. Born in Franklin County on August 17, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Oliver Wiston and Nellie Cade Wilder Perry. Linda was the widow of Norman Woodrow “Woody” Jones.
Linda was an active member of the Eastern Star for 68 years, holding several offices during that time. She also served as the National Secretary for the United Daughters of the Confederacy. A kind and giving person, she was presented the Key to Smithfield for her generous gift of land.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, December 26, 2014 at First Baptist Church, 202 S. Fourth St., Smithfield. Burial will follow at Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery near Clayton. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Friday at the church, immediately prior to the funeral service.
Linda is survived by one sister, Nell Perry Beasley of Louisburg, and by numerous nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia Frances Perry Mitchner, Rebecca Ann Perry Stallings Elmore, and Billie Wilder Perry Etheridge.
