Alton Holland, 82, died Thursday, December 25, 2014, at Rex Hospital. He leaves his wife of 64 years, Clarice (Lorren) Holland; his brother, Freddie Holland, and sister, Francis (Polly) Barnes; his son, Glenn Holland, and wife Fran; son, Danny Holland, and wife Jennifer; son, Andy Holland, and wife Melissa; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and many close friends. He is preceded in death by beloved grandson, Michael Holland.
Born and raised in Raleigh, he worked with Southern Bell, American Biographical Institute, Keebler, Dillard’s, and owned and operated the Farmhouse Restaurant, in Cary, from 1970 to 1975. A faithful member of the Church of Christ, he served as an elder at both Brooks Avenue and North Raleigh congregations. He was also a founding member of the AGAPE Board of North Carolina.
A celebration of his life will be held at 3pm on Sunday, December 28 at North Raleigh Church of Christ, 8701 Falls of Neuse Rd. The family will receive friends following the service. Donations may be made in his name to AGAPE of North Carolina at 10835 Bedfordtown Dr., Raleigh NC 27614.
