Mr. John “Ed” Wishon, 82, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Camden Place. He was the loving husband of the late Annie McGee Wishon who passed on December 7, 2011.
Mr. Wishon was born on June 2, 1932 in Guilford County a son of the late William Samuel Wishon and Mary Alice Billings Wishon. He attended Central High School and was very successful while working at Kellwood Hosiery for many years until his retirement.
Mr. Wishon enjoyed all sports, especially baseball. In his younger years he was a little league coach and umpire; and played in a softball league when he was older. He was a wonderful cook, loved to travel, but he especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be deeply missed by all.

Mr. Wishon is survived by four children, Barry Wishon and his wife, Karen of Raleigh, LeAnn Poole and Steve Knight of Asheboro, Phillip Wishon of Trinity, and Patty Cranford and her husband, Curt of Archdale; seven grandchildren, Zachary Wishon and his wife, Melissa, Sarah Mullin and her husband, William, Lauren Sackmann and her husband, Robert, Mitch Poole and his fiancé, Kate Davis, Lloyd Alex Wishon, Taylor Cranford, and Hannah Cranford; four great grandchildren, William John Mullin, Thomas Wishon Mullin, Ellowyn Bette Wishon, and Emma Jane Sackman; three sisters, Brenda Draughn and her husband, Sam of Archdale, Roma Bolling and her husband Dickey of Thomasville, and Joyce Griffey of High Point.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2014 in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, 206 Trindale Road, Archdale with Rev. Harold Shives officiating. Burial will be private at the request of the family. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am on Tuesday at the funeral home.
