John Stephen Pollard, 91, died Sunday, February 15, 2015.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Tarboro with the Rev. Noah Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
He was born on February 8, 1924 to the late Charlie Adident Pollard and Jeanette Taylor Pollard. He was preceded in death by sisters, Tabitha Pollard, Cora Lee Rogerson, and brother, Jesse Pollard.
John was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and served as S/Sgt. in the European Theater for 18 months during 1944-1945. From 1952-1982, he was a full-time employee with the N.C. Army National Guard and retired from the NCNG, U.S. Army and the Federal Civil Service.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Reba Gardner Pollard; daughter, Jeanette Cain and husband Harry, of Tarboro, NC; granddaughter Kristy Hwang and husband Roger of Cary, NC; John Wesley Cain and wife Irina, of Richmond, VA; and great granddaughters, Amelia Hwang and Iris Cain.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church and other times at 1112 Vance Drive.
