Annie Lee Harris Williams, the eldest of nine children was born to the union of the late Lessie Chavis and William McKinley Harris died on Sunday, February 15. She was born on July 22, 1922 and was a lifelong Raleigh resident. She was married to the late Lonnie Williams. Annie was a career state employee and worked in the Governor's Offices for more than twenty years. She was a committed employee and was recognized and awarded on two occasions, the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, from two governors, the highest honor awarded to civilians. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and a member of the Household of Ruth Lodge.
Homegoing Services will be held on Monday, February 23, 2015, family visitation 12:30 pm and funeral at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church, 101 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC.
She leaves a legacy of love, dedication and service to a loving family: two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Williams Sharpe and Frances Lonnette Williams, both of Raleigh, NC; two granddaughters, Pamela Sharpe Harris (Darryl) of Charlotte, NC and Wanda Lynn Sharpe of Richmond, VA; two great grandchildren, Brittney Harris of Raleigh and Joshua Harris of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Eleanor Harris Brown and Josephine Burrell, both of Raleigh, NC; nieces, Dianne Chunn of Fayetteville, NC, Renee Hall-Mann of Atlanta, GA, Sherri Belk of Raleigh, NC, Deborah Williams Gordan of Philadelphia, PA,and Charlene Williams of Washington, DC; nephews Larry N. Harris, Stephen Baldwin, Michael Garcia, and Jason Belk of Raleigh, NC, and Otis Harris, Jr. of Garner, NC; a host of great nieces and nephews and extended family members, Cordrian Gill of Raleigh, NC, Randolph Bazemore of Cary, NC, and Franklyn Jeffreys of Columbia, SC; lifelong devoted friend, Rosia D. Butler of Raleigh, NC.
