Beulah Nuckles Harrington, 98, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2015 at Windsor Point Retirement Community, where she had resided for over 16 years. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 10005 Lake Wheeler Road, Fuquay-Varina, NC. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Bea was married to Rev. Curtis Harrington for 63 years, assisting him in his duties as a Baptist minister and serving as Sunday school Teacher and choir member at Kentuck Baptist Church in VA, East Sanford Baptist Church and Summerfield Baptist Church in NC, as well as various churches in the Raleigh and Greensboro areas on an interim basis. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Fuquay-Varina.
As a minister's wife, Bea's time was devoted to church activities, but she also had other interests. She became a licensed cosmetologist while living in VA and prided herself on "fixing hair any way you want it," in her back porch shop. She was also an excellent cook - her potato soup and fried okra were special - and she loved anything chocolate.
Bea was preceded in death by her parents, James and Alma Nuckles; 12 brothers and sisters; husband, Rev. Curtis M. Harrington; and grandson, James Lee Harrington.
Bea's remaining family include a son, James P. Harrington (Brenda) of Raleigh, NC; daughter, Frenda Ann Carr (Gerry) of Ooltewah, TN; granddaughter, Gayle Harrington of Raleigh, NC; grandson, Chris Carr (Pamela) of Fleetwood, PA; and great-grandchildren, Trent, Jessi, and Evan of Raleigh, NC, and Cale and Cameron of Fleetwood, PA; brother, Billy Nuckles (Gail) of Greensboro, NC; sister, Mary Lee Westmoreland of Colfax, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
