Charles L Davidson was born to Lola Moss Davidson and Charles Sumner Davidson in Clovis, New Mexico. After graduating from Clovis High School, he earned a Bachelor of Science Chemical Engineering degree from Texas Tech University. He was a member of the Clovis Masonic Lodge and Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society. As a Lieutenant in the US Army Corp of Engineers, Charlie served in South Korea, supervising the building of runways for the Air Force. Charlie began his career with the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company, then joined Allied Chemical Company (now Honeywell) in 1962. His responsibilities included solving production problems in chemical plants, then managing chemical plants in Texas, California, New Jersey, Ohio and West Virginia. An elder in the Presbyterian Church, he worked tirelessly to offer religious services to the residents of the Riverview Manor Retirement facility in Huntington WV where he was chairman of the board. After moving to Cary in 1993 with his wife Marilyn, he continued serving others at Cary Presbyterian Church. He also served the community by delivering Meals on Wheels and chairing the Town of Cary Utilities Assessment Board. The primary focus of Charlie's life was his family. All shared a deep sense of pride and an abundance of joy with each other. He leaves Marilyn, his wife of 60 years, and their children, grandchildren and a great grandchild; Donna Robinson and her children Sarah and Stephen, Marci and Ron Thornton and her children, Josh Bates and Amy, Seth and Maddux Knight, Mark and Liz Davidson and their children, Andrew, Emily and Cole. He is also survived by his sister, Joyclee and her husband Richard Andes and his brother-in-law Jim Williams. A memorial service to celebrate his life is planned for March 21, 2015 at 11:30 am at Cary Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Endowment Fund of Cary Presbyterian Church.
