Marjorie Joyce Clark died February 24, 2015 after a brave fight with cancer. She was born on September 15, 1948, in Columbia, Pennsylvania. Her family moved to West Palm Beach, Florida when she was 8 years old and she considered that her “hometown.” She worked in the United Methodist Church for over 20 years in Christian Education and later moved into the technology field working for such companies such as Database, Nortel, and Biogen before becoming a private consultant. She moved to North Carolina in 1986.
She is survived by her mother Marian Clark of Durham and was preceded in death by her father James H. Clark and sister Barbara L. Clark. She was known for creative writing as well technical writing, and her work in youth ministry. She enjoyed music, sang in choirs since her early childhood, and loved to travel. She was an active member of her church teaching an adult Sunday school class for over 15 years.
A service of death and resurrection will be held at Duke Memorial, 504 West Chapel Hill Street, Durham NC 27701 at 3:00 PM on Friday, February 27, 2015 with Rev. Heather Rodrigues presiding and reception following. In lieu of flowers friends and family have requested that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association at 1701 North Beuregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311 or to Best Friends Animal Rescue at 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, UT 84741.
