Balbus Fedley Lewis, 92, of 15 Stallings Road, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at his home; his wife Norma P. Lewis was by his side. Mr. Lewis was born in Nash County on August 17, 1922 to the late Bennie Edgar Lewis and Ora Jane Bunn Lewis. He graduated from Bunn High School and went to Hardbarger's to earn a business degree. Mr. Lewis was a 1st Sergeant in the Army during WWII, and fought at the Battle of the Bulge, fired guns on the Remagan Bridge for 24 hours, and was stationed in Europe for the duration of the war. Upon returning after the war, he owned and operated Lewis Farm Supply, Inc. for 61 years, and was a house mover until his late 50's.
Funeral service with Military Honors: 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Pilot Baptist Church, 8103 NC Hwy, 39 South, Zebulon, NC 27597 with Reverend George Fox officiating, Pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Knightdale. Private burial will take place at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens at a later date.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545 and also at their home on 15 Stallings Road, Zebulon, and also at the home of Blake and Terry Lewis on Pilot-Riley Road, Zebulon.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Powers Lewis; son, C. Blake Lewis (Terry) of Zebulon; daughter, Olivia L. Adams (Wesley) of Knightdale; grandchildren, Nancy Grace Lewis Winborne (Brodie), Brittany Janice Adams, John Carlton Lewis, Jill Ann Adams, Emma Carol Lewis; brother, Bennie
Keyvin Lewis (Eleanor) of Middlesex.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Janice Lewis Taylor, Nevassie Lewis Champion, Elbert Reginald Lewis, and Merle Lewis Wideman.
