Mr. Thomas Hilbert Sutton, 66, passed away unexpectedly Monday evening, March 16, 2015, at Forsyth Medical Center.
He was born September 7, 1948 in Goldsboro, NC to George H. and Lorene Head Sutton. Thomas was a member of Peter’s Creek Baptist Church, and former member of the Danbury Volunteer Fire Department, having served for 33 years. He retired from North Carolina State Parks with 31 years of service. Thomas worked at Hanging Rock State Park as a park ranger and later as the lead maintenance mechanic. He loved fishing, woodworking, bluegrass music, and cooking Eastern-Style Barbecue. Hosting pig pickings for friends and family brought special joy.
A 2:00 p.m. memorial service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2015, at Peter’s Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Ragsdale officiating.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Bryan Thomas Sutton.
He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years; Kim Bridges Sutton of the home; daughter, Martha Sutton Mitchell (Brad) of Germanton; sister, Jane Sutton (Rick Wyatt) of Old Fort; grandchildren, Cody, Sarah, and Luke Mitchell, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Peter’s Creek Baptist Church from 1-2 pm prior to the service, on Friday, March 20, 2015.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
