Hector Javier Salmõn, age 75 of Fuquay Varina died early Wednesday morning on March 4, 2015 at the Life Care Hospice in Raleigh, North Carolina due to rapidly deteriorating health conditions. Hector was born on April 3, 1939 in Rio Grande City, Texas. His parents were Louis and Consuelo Salmõn. Hector was married to his German born bride, Barbara for over five decades. Both a Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient, Hector entered the United States Army in 1957 and earned the rank of Master Sergeant, and served his country bravely in the Vietnam War. He was a highly decorated soldier upon his retirement in 1978. Hector joined Northern Telecom for many years and retired in 1994. After a brief retirement stint, Hector then jointed Tekelec, Inc. in Morrisville, NC for seven years. Finally retiring in 2002, Hector worked on obtaining his Ph.D in Telecommunications Engineering. He was awarded his Degree from Sacramento Regent University on August 25, 2005, earning Summa Cum Laude. Hector is survived by his wife, Barbara Grosse Salmõn. His three children, Martina E. Pittman, Sibylle J. Smith and Manuel R. Salmõn. Four grandchildren, Kiefer J. Salmõn Vincent G. Pittman, Jr., D. Tanner Lewis and Quinlan M. Smith. Four siblings, Louis Salmõn, Aaron Salmõn, Oralia Avila and Homero Salmõn. Hector’s cremated remains will find it’s final resting place at a VA National Cemetery.
