Mr. Lorean Frederick Seymour, 96, went to his heavenly home on March 20, 2015. A native of Greene County, he was born October 2, 1918, the son of Lum Chadwick and Lena Turnage Seymour. Fred served in the US Army and subsequently the United States Air Force spanning a career of more than twenty years. After retiring from the US Air Force, he assumed a position with the State of North Carolina where he was a Geodetic Surveyor. Fred was a member of Hull Road Original Free Will Baptist Church in the Arba Community and served as Church Clerk for many years.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Jones Askew Seymour; brothers, Willie Edward Seymour and Raymond Seymour; and sisters, Elvyn Dot Seymour and Lily Jean Seymour West.
His surviving family includes his children, Lona Seymour Sharp of Pennsylvania, Delores Askew Jones and husband, Ed, of Darlington, South Carolina, and Gary Askew and wife, Angie of LaGrange; grandchildren, Robert Sharp and wife, Angela of Pennsylvania, Joseph Sharp and wife, Jen of Pennsylvania, Reynolds Askew and wife, Sherry of Kinston, Shannon Askew Sowers and husband, Michael of LaGrange, Roscoe Askew and wife, Keri of Snow Hill, Julie J. Beasley and husband, Wes of Florence, South Carolina, and Kristen Jones of Darlington, South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Madison, Mikala Lorean, Joshua, Nora, Cody, Steele, Daniel, and Ethan; sisters, Jewell Seymour Harris of Huntersville and Violet Seymour Boyd of Greensboro; brothers, Leonard Seymour and wife, Becky (Sue) of Kinston and Ben Seymour and wife, Ruth of Raleigh; and sister-in-law, Grace A. Seymour of Snow Hill.
Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held 2 PM Tuesday, March 24, at the Snow Hill Cemetery with Reverend Leon Grubbs officiating.
