Otis “Luther” Emory, 86, of Raleigh, died April 1, 2015. Luther was born on December 7, 1928 in Raleigh, NC, where he lived his whole life. He was one of the early members of Creedmoor Baptist Church, where he still remained a dedicated member and Sunday-school goer every Sunday. Luther loved his family and his church, and while Luther may have had a best friend he was considered a best friend by all.
Luther proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years during the Korean war, being stationed in many places around the United States. For many years, he owned and operated a television repair shop in the Raleigh area. Luther loved to fish and was an excellent pool player. In his early years, he played baseball and still enjoyed watching the sport.
Otis is survived by his children, David Emory, Cheryl Beaman and Anita Chappell; grandchildren, Andrew Beaman, Corwin Emory, Jason Chappell, Brooke Beaman and Candace Chappell; great granddaughter, Hailey; and brother, Henry Emory and his wife, Cynara. Luther was preceded in death by his brother, Otha Emory.
A visitation will be held Monday, April 6 from 6:00-8:00pm at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 7 at 11:00am at Creedmoor Baptist Church, 6001 Creedmoor Rd., Raleigh, NC. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
