Joseph Conrad Sennec, 90, of Emerald Isle, NC went home to be with the Lord Monday, March 30, 2015 surrounded by his family. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Seaside Memorial Park on Hammocks Beach Road, Swansboro, NC.
Mr. Sennec was born August 14, 1924 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Mary Ungerman Sennec and Conrad Joseph Sennec.
Joe lived a life of service to his country and his community. He was a medic with the U.S. Army during WWII and served as a Navy Hospital Corpman attached to the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, separating from the military at Camp LeJeune NC. He joined the Jacksonville NC Police Department in 1956, serving for thirty years before retiring as a Sargent in May 1985. He then joined the Onslow County Sherriff's Department as a reserve Sheriff's Deputy, serving until 2002. During this time he was proud to be able to retain his marksman badge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Dera Mae Cavanaugh Porter Sennec.
He is survived by his sons, Robert E. Porter (Brenda) and Danny G. Sennec, grandsons and family Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Porter, and Mr. and Mrs. Michael R. Porter and one great grandchild.
