Jean Daniel Scarborough, 87, previously from Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, April 26, 2015 after months of declining health. She was the daughter of John Hunter and Evie Pearce Daniel. She was surrounded by her loving and caring daughters and their families. A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Jean and
her husband A.G. were active members of North Ridge Alliance Church. She loved music her entire life and graduated from Meredith College with a major in Public
School Music and Organ. She was very musically gifted and served many years of her life as a church organist, pianist and choir director. She also taught piano and organ in her home. Her hobbies were of course her music but she was also an excellent cook and loved to garden. Her home was always open to anyone wanting to stop by and visit.
There was always a “pot of coffee on” to share and usually the sound of her playing the piano.
Mrs. Scarborough was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Andrew Goodwin Scarborough, Jr. She is survived by her children, Judith S. Baker (Brooks) of Holland, PA,
Andrea S. Ditton of Carol Stream, IL, Nancy S. McKinnis (Ray) of Winfield, IL; grandchildren: Christopher Puryear (Stephanie) of Whitefish Bay, WI, Michael Puryear (Staci)
of Los Angeles, CA, Catherine Coghlan of Wheaton, IL; great-grandchildren: Owen Puryear, Henry Puryear, River Puryear, Luke Puryear; brother, John “Jack” Hunter
Daniel, JR. (Brenda) of Annapolis, MD and niece Laura Daniel Livingston (Jeter) of Ivory Coast, Africa/Wheaton, IL and their children Joshua, Elisabeth, Aimee and Arielle.
A graveside service at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh, NC will be held to celebrate her life at a later date.
A memorial service will be held at Wyndemere auditorium, Wheaton, IL on June 6, 2015 at 1:30pm for family and friends.
