Doris Thomason King Jacobs, 82, of Cary, NC passed away in her home on April 19, 2015. She was born on January 26, 1933 in Charlotte to James C. King, Sr. and Doris Thomason King.
Doris spent her childhood in Wilmington, NC and Wrightsville Beach, graduating from New Hanover High School. She moved to Charlotte, NC where she attended Queens College and worked at Myers Park Baptist Church where she met her future husband, the late Charles Allen Jacobs, Jr. “Charlie” was the owner of Prestige Graphics; Doris was a homemaker who raised four children.
Doris was a member of St. Vincent’s Catholic Church, Charlotte and an avid reader who loved gardening and playing bridge. She also delighted in spending time with her grandchildren. After the passing of Charlie, Doris moved to Cary, NC to be closer to her family.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Charles Allen Jacobs, Jr. and her parents. Surviving her are her children Lisa Flynn and husband Dr. Charles Flynn of Lexington NC, Charles “Jake” Allen Jacobs III and wife Mary Bland Jacobs of Cary NC, James “Jake” Thomason Jacobs and wife Cindy Jacobs of Sanford NC, Janet Tolman and husband Deane Tolman, Jr. of Apex NC; four grandchildren Leigh Flynn Hooker and husband Tommy Hooker of Lexington NC, Chris Flynn of Durham NC, Greyson Charles Jacobs and Reese Thomason Jacobs of Cary NC; great grandchildren Madison Hooker and Amelia Hooker of Lexington NC; and a brother James C. King, Jr.
A private celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 2 at 2:00 p.m. at Oakdale Cemetery.
