Bruce Anthony Acosta died on Monday, April 27, 2015 at Transitions LifeCare founded as Hospice of Wake County in Raleigh, North Carolina after fighting a long battle with cancer. Bruce was born on November 27, 1951, in Manhattan, New York. He lived for a time in Virginia before making his home in North Carolina. He met and married the love of his life and they resided in Wake Forest, NC for 10 years.
Bruce was an accomplished metal sculptor and retired optician. He enjoyed most of all spending time with his family and friends and was always the life of any gathering with his practical jokes and wonderful since of humor. Mentoring young adults was one of Bruce’s special gifts. He also had a great love for fresh and saltwater fishing.
Bruce is survived by his father, Jorge Luis Acosta and stepmother, Ramonita); his wife, Sheila Gray Acosta and children, Sophia Lee (Jeff), Vanessa Macafee, (Rick) and Allicia Meuse (Adam); grandchildren, Olivia, Stella, Marshall, Zora & Naomi; Brother, George Acosta, Sisters, Marilyn Arroyo (Larry), Audrey Milam (Michael) and Michelle Martinson; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Bruce is preceded in death by his mother, Luz Mercedes Monserrat. A service will be held at Greystone Baptist Church, 7509 Lead Mine Road, Raleigh, NC 27615 on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at 3 pm. Family will receive family and friends in the gathering space across from the sanctuary from 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm.
