Linsey Robertson, 11, of Kill Devil Hills, N.C. carries an innertube up a snow-covered dune next to the Wright Brother's Memorial for another fast ride down the steep slope. More than eight inches of snow fell on the outer banks during a rare winter storm, and for Linsey and her two younger brothers it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. The last significant snow fall on the outer banks was 13 years ago. "It was a blast," said Linsey's father, Dave Robertson. "We hit the slopes for another two days until there wasn't enough snow left. It was something different. We never have enough snow. It reminded me of my youth growing up in northern Virginia."
About This Project

"The View" showcases the unique character of the people and places that form our community. The column explores the lives and relationships of the diverse groups that populate the Triangle. Anyone, regardless of age, race, cultural background or ethnicity, is a potential subject. We include the thoughts of those featured as they express how they view their own situation, allowing us a window into their lives.

Our approach to finding stories for the column varies. Often, we look for subjects to illustrate themes we want to explore. Other times, we may stumble across interesting subjects while on assignment or in our daily lives. We hope readers can use "The View" to enhance their understanding of their own community.
