Each year from early November until the day before Christmas, Santa relaxes in his high-back chair at Cary Towne Center and greets visitors. He will be available to the public from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays. The sporadic visitors in the time leading up to Thanksgiving are in sharp contrast to the long lines he will see after the holiday. He estimates that he will have around 600 people come to see him Saturday. Although he has endured everything from having his picture made with animals to sobbing children, he says the rewards and joys are numerous. Anticipating a long month, Santa and his wife are planning a two-month vacation to a little fishing village in Mexico.
About This Project

Robert Willett
"The View" showcases the unique character of the people and places that form our community. The column explores the lives and relationships of the diverse groups that populate the Triangle. Anyone, regardless of age, race, cultural background or ethnicity, is a potential subject. We include the thoughts of those featured as they express how they view their own situation, allowing us a window into their lives.

Chris Seward
Our approach to finding stories for the column varies. Often, we look for subjects to illustrate themes we want to explore. Other times, we may stumble across interesting subjects while on assignment or in our daily lives. We hope readers can use "The View" to enhance their understanding of their own community.
