The UNC Tar Heels women's basketball team defeated Maryland, 91-80, to clinch their second straight ACC Tournament last week -- in front of 10,746 fans in Greensboro. Ticket sales for the four-day event eclipsed attendance records for women's basketball conference tournaments. About 10,000 more seats were sold than last year. Ranked No. 1 in the nation in the writers' and coaches' polls, North Carolina (29-1) avenged its only loss of the season, a hotly contested 98-95 defeat in overtime by the Terrapins. The Tar Heels are a virtual lock as the top No. 1 seed for the national tournament.

About This Project

Robert Willett
"The View" showcases the unique character of the people and places that form our community. The column explores the lives and relationships of the diverse groups that populate the Triangle. Anyone, regardless of age, race, cultural background or ethnicity, is a potential subject. We include the thoughts of those featured as they express how they view their own situation, allowing us a window into their lives.

Chris Seward
Our approach to finding stories for the column varies. Often, we look for subjects to illustrate themes we want to explore. Other times, we may stumble across interesting subjects while on assignment or in our daily lives. We hope readers can use "The View" to enhance their understanding of their own community.
