Aaron Dorsey, left, helps his friend Jeremy Wiggins with a bow tie before their graduation ceremony May 31 at Reynolds Coliseum at N.C. State University. "I've got to stand out," Wiggins said of his fashion choice. About 460 students participated in ceremony honoring Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School's graduates. It was the first high school graduation of the season for Wake County Public School System.

HOW I GOT THE SHOT

I arrived several hours before the start of the graduation and found students readying themselves in the parking lot. Dorsey stood out because he was one of the few people wearing bow ties that afternoon.

About This Project

Robert Willett
"The View" showcases the unique character of the people and places that form our community. The column explores the lives and relationships of the diverse groups that populate the Triangle. Anyone, regardless of age, race, cultural background or ethnicity, is a potential subject. We include the thoughts of those featured as they express how they view their own situation, allowing us a window into their lives.

Chris Seward
Our approach to finding stories for the column varies. Often, we look for subjects to illustrate themes we want to explore. Other times, we may stumble across interesting subjects while on assignment or in our daily lives. We hope readers can use "The View" to enhance their understanding of their own community.
