| The TeerMark Building, 212 W. Main Street, Durham, is reflected in the windows of the Self Help Building at 201 W. Main Street. Originally built in 1905 as the Beaux Arts Trust Building, the TeerMark was the tallest office building in the state when it was constructed. It was remodeled in 2001 and has 45,000 square feet of space.
Properties that are at least 50 years old and have been significantly rehabilitated or restored while maintaining the architectural character of the original structure are eligible for The Pyne Preservation Award. The TeerMark was awarded the Pyne Award in 2001. The Preservation Awards have been given by the Society since 1976, and were named in honor of long-time Durham preservationists George and Mary Pyne in 1995.
