One of the stained glass windows in the sanctuary at White Plains United Methodist Church in Cary depicts the Christmas story in several panels: the donkey that carried Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem, the manger where Jesus Christ was born and the star that appeared over his birthplace. Bill Hennis, church historian, said the church's sanctuary was built in 1977. The stained glass windows were installed in the 1990s and were fabricated by Stained Glass Associates of Raleigh. The abstract symbols in the colorful glass were meant to help 'create a worshipful environment for all who visit the sanctuary.'
