If you’re looking to get a little extra use out of that Halloween costume, there are family-friendly holiday celebrations all over the Triangle this weekend.
Here are some of the events where you can herald the arrival of fall and dress up in your Halloween best.
• The Durham Community Concert Band will play spooky selections at a free concert Sunday at Durham’s Central Park Pavilion. The concert will go from 3-5 p.m., and families are invited to spread out on the grass with picnics, pets and toys.
Never miss a local story.
There will also be food trucks and a kids costume parade.
The music will include tunes you might recognize from “Superman,” “Star Wars,” “Fantasia” and “Alfred Hitchcock Presents.”

• The Morehead Planetarium in Chapel Hill is doing a Halloween version of its typical star show called “Scare-olina Skies,” which explores the dark legends behind the constellations.
While the regular show is considered too scary for young children, the planetarium is also offering a milder version aimed at elementary-aged kids 5 and older.
That show is Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Get tickets at moreheadplanetarium.org.
• In North Raleigh, the A.E. Finley YMCA will host a free fall festival from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday that is open to both members and non-members.
There will be inflatables, games, live music, healthy food vendors, face painting and “spooky Halloween videos.” You can also buy and carve a pumpkin while you are there.
Bring a lawn chair if you go.
• There are also free fall festivals in both Holly Springs and Fuquay-Varina this weekend.
Hollyfest is in Sugg Farm Park in Holly Springs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, and will include a pumpkin carving contest, inflatables, rides, live entertainment and food vendors. More information at www.hollyspringsnc.us.
At the same time in downtown Fuquay-Varina, you can attend a chili cookoff and stroll a family-friendly street fair. Find details at fuquay-varinadowntown.com.
