Talking through tragedy

Our hearts go out to the families affected by the elementary school shooting in Newtown, Conn., today. Everyone is heartbroken to hear this, but it really cuts deep when you're a parent, especially if your kids are in elementary school themselves.
Here's a great list of resources for talking to your kids about today's violence. If you're wondering what to say to your kids about what happened, some of the resources here, from places like the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and PBS Parents, can really help.
The best thing you can do, of course, is to hold them tight and tell them you love them. But you already knew that.
