The first time I sat down to write a Mom2Mom column, Trevor was in Kindergarten and Laurel hadn’t yet lost her first tooth yet. But as I sit here writing my last column over four years later, everything seems very different. Laurel is starting middle school in two months and Trevor will be taller than me before I know it.
One of the reasons that I wanted to be a Mom2Mom blogger was that I hoped that by sharing my stories that other moms might realize that they are not the only one who finds motherhood both wonderful and exhausting in the same 30 seconds. I knew that I couldn’t be the only parent who answered to their children about why they got a “lame” tooth fairy or whose son always had a hole in the knee of their pants.
But a funny thing happened over years, you, my readers, actually me realize that I was not alone in my frustrations and joys of being a parent. You sent emails and phone calls after I wrote about my dog of 14 years passed away. I got to know many of your through comments on the blog. And I still get teary eyed the day I heard that one my columns had been read aloud at a women’s bible study.
I can’t thank each of you enough for taking the time from your busy days and your family to read my words each week. And for letting have the wonderful pleasure of sharing my stories with you.
