Sue Reynolds, a Raleigh wife, mom and elementary music teacher, needed ideas on how to dress professionally. “I am 46 and feel and look much older,” she wrote in email. “I have a curvy body that needs to lose some pounds, my hair needs to be cut and has too much gray. My clothes are just old and out of date.” I picked out chic, comfortable, fashionable outfits that will push the “frumpy mom” look out of her life.
Before: Flat hair, a boxy top and skirt and functional shoes do nothing to show Reynolds’ vivacious personality and smarts. She will look professional, comfortable and stylish in carefully coordinated outfits.
After: Graying brown strands were warmed up with golden auburn color, and a flattering cut frames her face beautifully. Foundation, shadows, liner, blush and lip color accentuate her beautiful bone structure. Dark bootcut jeans coordinate with a soft navy jacket, feminine sleeveless blouse, peep-toe wedges and jewelry for a casual look that shows personality and style. A dressier option of black-and-white knit sheath, hip-length knit cardigan, printed handbag and peep-toe wedge sandals looks dressy and keeps Reynolds comfortable.
