A new month is almost upon us, and that means downtown Raleigh’s monthly celebration of the arts, First Friday. While the galleries will surely be hopping, downtown boutiques also have some fun events planned.
▪ Raleigh handbag designer Holly Aiken launches a new collection of designs on First Friday at Stitch, which is at 20 E. Hargett St., Raleigh. The “In the Spirit of Adventure” line features whimsical graphics – such as a banana, apple and toucan – in bold color combinations. The designer also debuts the Overpass look, which offers a new take on classic stripes. The new designs are available in Turbo, Auxiliary and Glider bag styles.
Stitch will host its First Friday festivities from 5 to 8 p.m., with giveaways during the night. For more details, call 919-833-8770.
▪ The Curatory at Raleigh Denim Workshop hosts a pop-up of Raleigh-based Peppertrain Jewelry, 6-9 p.m. The line’s designer, Meredith College grad Kaitlin Ryan, will be on hand. Ryan creates statement necklaces with vibrant, handmade beads. There also will be music and an assortment of libations served. Call 919-917-8969 for more information.
Never miss a local story.
▪ Shoppers can score after-hours discounts at the downtown Raleigh location of Moon & Lola during its First Friday soiree, 6-8 p.m. The store will offer a 20 percent discount on its North Carolina-made jewelry during the event. For more details, call 919-322-4277.
