Fighting cancer is a big deal for Kendra Leonard.
Known around town as the fashionable owner of The Art of Style in Raleigh’s Cameron Village, Leonard also is a passionate advocate for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, a charity that is close to her heart, as she lost her husband several years back to the disease.
She marries those two identities this weekend at the boutique’s annual summer charity fashion show, benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Saturday at the Devon Four25 Apartments in downtown Raleigh.
The event, held from 7 to 10 p.m., includes an outdoor fashion show, music by DJ Pronto, food, wine, beer, and live and silent auctions. Tickets are $25 in advance, $40 the day of the show, and available at theartofstyleboutique.com. Proceeds benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s efforts to eradicate blood cancers and offer support to those suffering with the diseases.
“To date, we have raised over $85,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and have had over 100 people registered to donate bone marrow,” Leonard said. “Three of them have been matches. So I like to say that we don’t just sell clothing, we transform lives. Even save them, too.”
