Chef Bill Smith teaches at Southern Season
Chef Bill Smith of Crook’s Corner will teach a cooking class at Southern Season in Chapel Hill on Sept. 22.
The menu for the 6 p.m. class is crabmeat salsa, vegetable gratin with Calvander cheese from Chapel Hill Creamery, Mornay sauce and iron skillet apple rum cake.

Carolina ’Cue at Crook’s Corner
Crook’s Corner in Chapel Hill has been serving up barbecue from across North Carolina on Wednesday evenings.
Owner Gene Hamer travels to the barbecue restaurants and returns with enough ’cue to serve Crook’s Corner patrons. Here are the next two upcoming Carolina ’Cue events: Sept. 17 with barbecue from Bum’s in Ayden and Oct. 1 with barbecue from the Pig Whistle in Chapel Hill.
