Deal describes Juju as an “Asian tapas restaurant” with dim sum-style service. The menu will be printed on the placemats. A cart will wheel around dumplings and other dim sum offerings. Food will come to the table as soon as it is ready. One new twist will be a cocktail cart that will offer two drinks made tableside.
The 250-seat restaurant also will offer Peking duck, which will have to be ordered ahead of time.
The restaurant is a partnership between Deal and Julian Benfey, 21, who learned on the job under chef Josh DeCarolis at Jujube and Mateo, attended culinary school and worked in restaurants in Charleston, S.C. The pair have hired Aaron Zarczynski to be the restaurant’s chef.
