To celebrate its tenth anniversary, Twisted Fork (3751-170 Sumner Blvd.; 919-792-2535; thetwistedfork.com) is getting a makeover. Located in the outdoor Commons at Triangle Town Center, the restaurant will close its doors onOctober 13 and reopen them on Wednesday, October 23 with a fresh new concept.
Owner Dean Ogan, whose Rocky Top Hospitality group of restaurants also includes Dean’s Seafood Grill in Cary and The Daily Planet Café in the NC Museum of Natural Sciences, is describing the new concept as “a fun spin on America’s favorite foods.”
On the menu, that translates to the likes of short rib tacos, bacon-wrapped shrimp and grits, and The Soccer Mom’s Masterpiece Burger with peanut butter, house-made strawberry jam and double bacon. A greater emphasis on local sourcing will show up in everything from nightly specials to the honey that comes with the chicken tenders.
The bar will offer an updated selection of house specialty cocktails and drink specials, along with an already-strong list of 30 beers on tap (half of them NC brews).
Current fans will be happy to know that one thing won’t change: Pastry chef Richard Marshall will still be tempting sweet tooth-inclined patrons of all ages with his signature Tia Maria Cake and other perennially popular pastries.
