Share your Thanksgiving food traditions

Ever try to change a Thanksgiving meal tradition? Tell us what happened.

For Thanksgiving, many families stick to the same menu year after year. It has to be mom’s roast turkey and dressing, Grandma’s gravy, Aunt Dora’s pecan pie. The green beans must be topped with French’s fried onions and the sweet potatoes with marshmallows.

We love how families cling to these traditions. Tell us what dishes absolutely have to be on your Thanksgiving table. Tell us what happened when someone tried to omit or alter a beloved dish. Tell us the lengths you go to accommodate everyone’s tastes. Tell us about not only the family feuds but also the success stories of your family’s evolving holiday menu.

Send those stories by midnight Nov. 3 to Andrea Weigl at aweigl@newsobserver.com. Put “Holiday Meals” in the subject line. Tell us how old you are and where you live. We’ll publish the best stories and a few recipes next month.
