Nick Malgieri teaching at Southern Season

The director of baking program at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York is coming to Chapel Hill.

Baking expert Nick Malgieri returns March 15 to Southern Season in Chapel Hill to teach a class on Italian Easter baking.

Malgieri is the director of the baking program at the Institute of Culinary Education and author of many cookbooks, include “Great Italian Desserts.”

The menu includes Neapolitan ricotta and wheat berry pie scented with orange flower water, sweet pie of orange-flavored custard cream and sour cherry jam, individual ricotta tarts scented with cinnamon, crisp, savory cookies made from a white wine-moistened yeast dough, and miniature sweet cracker with an anise icing.
