Pintful: A new Five Points brewery and What’s On Tap

In this week’s Pintful column, I take a look at Nickelpoint Brewing, which is poised to become Raleigh’s newest craft beer stop when it opens this spring. Read it here.

The brewery recently changed its name from Union Square Brewery to embrace its Five Points neighborhood locale.

Here’s a look at What’s On Tap in coming days:

Hi-Wire Double IPA Release

2 p.m. Friday at Hi-Wire Brewing, 197 Hilliard Ave, Asheville

Hi-Wire’s new seasonable is the Man Eater Double India pale ale, loaded with “our entire year’s allotment of Citra and Amarillo hops.” If you can’t make it to Asheville, look for it across the state the next week in draft and bottles.

2nd Annual Bull City Food and Beer Experience

4-8 p.m. Sunday, Durham Performing Arts Center, 123 Vivian St., Durham

Food samples from 30 of Durham’s best restaurants and beer tastings from 50 breweries make this a special event. It include live music from the band Mipso and a panel on North Carolina craft beer. More details here.

Raleigh Brewing 1-year anniversary party

4 p.m. March 15, Raleigh Brewing Co., 3709 Neil St., Raleigh

One of Raleigh’s top breweries is marking it’s anniversary with a party. Expect music, special treats and of course, beer.

Lonerider Showdown 2014

4 p.m. March 29 Blount Street in downtown Raleigh

Lonerider Brewing’s annual party is returning to downtown with music from five bands and beer. More details here.
