Bourbon event at The Oxford

As part of the N.C. Literary Festival, Raleigh’s The Oxford is hosting Kathleen Purvis, author of “Bourbon,” a cookbook, for a bourbon tasting with special menu pairings.

On April 4, The Oxford in downtown Raleigh is hosting Charlotte Observer Food Editor Kathleen Purvis for a bourbon tasting as part of the N.C. Literary Festival.

Purvis wrote “Bourbon,” one of the cookbooks in The Savor the South series from the University of North Carolina Press.

From 8-10 p.m. next Friday, the restaurant is offering a special menu with suggested bourbon tastings. The menu includes such pairings as pork belly, sweet potato gnocchi, sage, kale, Parmesan and a bourbon-vanilla gastrique, paired with Basil Hayden’s bourbon or pimento cheese mousse, rosemary crostini and bourbon-mushroom jelly paired with Maker’s 46. The food and the bourbon pairings are each priced a la carte.
