There are so many upcoming food events across the Triangle worth a mention, so here is a roundup:• At noon Saturday, March 29, Cary’s Divan Center is offering a Turkish brunch cooking class. • From 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, March 30, a pop-up brunch is being served at HQ Raleigh, a downtown coworking spacen, to benefit Activate Good, a leadership and service class in local high schools. • From 4 -7 p.m. Tuesday is Wake Technical Community College’s annual Culinary Arts Showcase at the Raleigh Convention Center. The public can watch the final round of the students’ Hot Foods Cooking Challenge, see cooking demonstrations and ice carvings in progress, enjoy restaurant food samples, view the students’ competitive cakes and chocolate displays and even buy student-made bread and pastries. More than 2,000 people are expected. Tickets cost $8 in advance, $10 at the door, $5 for students and children 5 and under are free. • Durham’s Pompieri Pizza is asking customers to create art with their pizza boxes for a chance to win free pizza for a year. Here’s how it works: Starting on Tuesday, April 1, customers can ask for a free plain pizza box and have until April 30 to turn into an artistic creation. A panel of judges will choose one winner age 10 and under and four winners who are over 10 years of age. • From 10:30 a.m.-noon April 12, Raleigh’s Rebus Works is hosting its Second Saturday Brunch. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for children, ages 12 and under. • From 3-7 p.m. April 12, Savor Fuquay-Varina will be held at Aviator Brewery showcasing 17 local food vendors, three breweries and two wineries and feature live entertainment. Tickets cost $20 and cover food and beverage samples and can be bought at the Fuquay-Varina Chamber of Commerice or online. The event is at 209 Technology Park Lane, Fuquay-Varina. • Durham’s Piedmont restaurant is hosting a five-course Mouton Noir wine dinner on April 17. Winemaker André Mack, a former sommelier at The French Laundry and Per Se turned winemaker, will be on hand for the dinner that starts 6:30 p.m. The five-course dinner costs is $50 with optional wine pairings for $30. • From 3-7 p.m. May 3, Orange United Methodist Church of Chapel Hill is hosting a food truck rodeo as a fundraiser for TABLE, a nonprofit that aims to feed hungry children in the community. The event will feature live music, a bounce house, relay races, corn hole, face painting, and these food trucks: Mama Duke’s, Chick-N-Que, Dusty Donuts, Dang Good Dogs, El Molcajete, Blue Sky Dining and more. The trucks will donate 10% of their proceeds to TABLE. The church is located at , 1220 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Info: tablenc.org.
• On May 3, the Cycle to Farm event comes to the Triangle for the first time. The 62-mile cycling event is being organized by Velo Girl Rides, which has done similar rides in the Asheville area. The ride will raise money for Farmer Foodshare, a local nonprofit that connect fresh local food with those in need. The ride starts at 8 a.m. and cyclists visit four local farms, can taste food samples and even purchase food at each farm (volunteers transport purchases) and then enjoy an after party at RambleRill Farm. The event costs $69 for cyclists and meals for non-riders can be purchased for $14 for adults and $7 for children. Info: cycletofarm.org/chapel-hill/.
