The deadline to enter SEEDS’ annual pie contest is today.
Durham’s SEEDS is holding its annual pie social and the grand opening of its renovated facility from noon-5 p.m. Sunday at 706 Gilbert St.
The open house for the renovated facility is noon-1 p.m. Sunday, followed by the pie social from 1-5 p.m. To enter the pie contest, competitive home bakers must register online today and then plan to bring four of the same pies by 11 a.m. Sunday to the SEEDS’ facility. Entry fees are $15-$25. The winner will take home a $500 prize.

If you like to eat pie, you can pay $10 for four slices of homemade pie during the pie social.
SEEDS is a Durham nonprofit that runs an urban gardening and youth leadership program. You may see their student farmers selling at the Durham Farmers’ Market. Proceeds from the contest and the event will support SEEDS’ work. Andrea Weigl
