A mobile craft beer bar – yes, you read that right – debuts Thursday at the Contemporary Art Museum in Raleigh.
The first-of-its-kind contraption, dubbed The Wander Box, is carved from an old shipping container and bears the scars, markers and rust to prove it.
Positioned in the front lawn at CAM, the solar-powered box features 12 taps of North Carolina beer, including a few local offerings, such as Raleigh Brewing and Deep River Brewing in Clayton. Picnic tables and new sod in the front add to the beer garden feel, or patrons can wander inside to see two new art installations.
“We can literally pack this in the box and it can move,” said Matt Tomasulo, its creator.
It starts pouring 5 to 11 p.m. and will sit in residence like its own art piece until June 15.
No word on where it moves next, but its creator hopes it travels throughout the Triangle.
