Second Saturday hosts food-related events in downtown Raleigh

Second Saturday encourages interaction and discussion about the Raleigh Food Corridor, a two-mile stretch in downtown Raleigh.

This Saturday is Second Saturday, which means a series of community and food events will be held around downtown Raleigh.

“Through pop-up markets, city walks, urban farms, community gardens, food installations, local artisans and local businesses, Second Saturday is an all-day showcase of new and exciting food-related projects occurring along the [Raleigh Food] Corridor,” according to the website.

The Raleigh Food Corridor is a two-mile stretch of downtown Raleigh along Blount and Person streets that individuals and organizations are trying to highlight to bring diverse communities together through food-related projects.

Saturday’s events include a guided walking tour of the Raleigh Food Corridor that meets at 9 a.m. at Moore Square, a pop-up market outside Escazu chocolate shop and Stanbury restaurant and several volunteer opportunities at gardening sites, including an activity for children to create an edible landscape outside Centro restaurant.
