Annelore’s German Bakery, a longtime vendor at the State Farmer’s Market in Raleigh, is breaking ground Monday on its new shop in downtown Cary.
Co-owner and head baker Annelore Gstattenbauer said Wednesday she is “ecstatic!” about finally getting into a permanent retail location.
“It’s been a long time coming,” she said.
Gstattenbauer and her husband, Norbert, have been operating the home-based bakery that specializes in German pastries and breads for about 10 years. They sell at Western Wake Farmers Market and State Farmers Market, the latter for the last eight years. The couple traces their culinary lineage back to Annelore’s family’s brewery and restaurant in Germany.
Never miss a local story.
The groundbreaking ceremony will happen at 308 W. Chatham St., at 4 p.m. Monday.
