Chapel Hill cookbook author Nancie McDermott will be teaching a class on Southern soups and stews at 6 p.m. Oct. 12 at Southern Season.
McDermott, who is known for her cookbooks on Thai cuisine and Southern desserts, has published a new cookbook, “Southern Soups & Stews.”
Here’s the class menu: three-pepper jelly and cream cheese on saltines; Charleston-style she-crab soup with sherry and chives; Rufus Estes’s Brunswick stew with dumplings; and Miss Nannie’s old-school coconut cake.
