Southern Season in Chapel Hill has a couple cooking classes that seem a good fit for this time of year.
At 6 p.m. Jan. 20, cooking instructor Caitlin Burke will teach a class, “What to do with Tofu?” The menu includes rice noodle salad with fried tofu, ginger and oyster mushroom soup, spiced tofu balls in pita pockets and silky chocolate pudding. Cost: $40.
At 6 p.m. Jan. 21, cooking instructor Amanda Cushman shares her recipes for perfect winter soups. The menu includes Italian wedding soup with mini chicken meatballs, chick pea and sausage soup with escarole, spicy red lentil soup with shrimp dumplings and mixed Greens with crunchy fried feta. Cost: $45.
