If you are a fan of Shuckers Oyster Bar & Grill on Raleigh’s Glenwood Avenue, get there by Thursday to have a final lunch or dinner.
On Feb. 19, owners Amy and Kevin Marksberry will transition the Raleigh restaurant to a catering and private event venue. The space will be able to host parties as large as 300 people.
The decision was sparked by a combination of increased growth in Shuckers private dining and catering business as well as the growing requests for larger event spaces in downtown Raleigh, according to a press release sent out Monday.
“Customer demand for private events and catering has been outpacing our traditional lunch and dinner business at the downtown location,” said Kevin Marksberry, according to the press release. We knew we needed to change our model to better fit what customers wanted and needed from us.”

The couple opened the Raleigh location of Shuckers two years ago; they already own a Wake Forest location, which has been open for seven years.
