Urban Vintage market in August
Save the date: Urban Vintage, a two-day pop-up market in Raleigh, will be Aug. 12-13.
The event is 6-9 p.m. Aug. 12 ($5 for entry) and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 13 (free). The event will be at Traine in Seaboard Station. It will include vendors selling furniture, antiques, clothing, midcentury modern pieces and more.
The market is organized by local art event planners and pop-up trailblazers The Handmaidens, who also organize The Handmade Market. To see a list of vendors, go to urbanvintageraleigh.com.

Home Depot offers DIY classes
The home improvement store chain offers free workshops each weekend.
Here is a sample of upcoming workshops at Wake County stores: Organic Gardening, 10-11:30 a.m. July 9; Water Conservation, 1-2:30 p.m. July 10; Installing a Vanity, 10-11:30 a.m. July 16; Installing a Light Fixture, 1-2:30 p.m. July 17; Learning to Install Tile Flooring, 10-11:30 a.m. July 23.
They also offer do-it-herself workshops for women: DIY Dog Feeder, 6:30-8 p.m. July 21.

Birdbath, planting container workshops
Instructors Amelia Lane and Beth Jimenez of Lasting Impressions Concrete Sculptures in Raleigh are offering two upcoming classes:
▪ 9 a.m.-noon July 23, they will teach how to make a hypertufa trough, a versatile planting container that looks like stone yet is lightweight and has excellent drainage. All materials are provided. Cost: $75-$85.
▪ 1-3 p.m. July 23, they will teach out how to make a concrete leaf-shaped birdbath for your garden or patio. All materials are provided. Cost: $65-$75.
The classes are held at a private Raleigh residence but organized by the JC Raulston Arboretum. Directions will be provided after registration.
