In the afternoon of May 4, 2015, Samuel Marvin Carpenter passed away in his home in Raleigh, NC. After several weeks of undetermined illness, Marvin went to meet his maker. He was born on May 12, 1931 to Buck Boddie Carpenter and Mamie Langley Carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Lou H. Carpenter, of the home and two children he adored, Keith Carpenter and Arnella C. Hunt (Chris) of Raleigh, NC. He had two grandsons, Brandon and Mason Hunt. There were two step daughters, Nancy Glover (Jim) of Bailey and Cindy Squires of Richmond, VA. Marvin had a brother, Thurman C. Carpenter of Elm City and a sister, Jean C. Marvin was preceded in death by both hi sparents and abother, Buck B. Carpenter, Jr.
Upon graduating from Coopers High School, he worked with the railroad for many years and went into the financial industry until retirement, upon which he did private investigation work. Marvin enjoyed life and living it to the fullest while in good health. He loved a good joke and laughing with old friends, especially his life-long friend, Buck Baker. Family was his top priority. In the recent years, he anxiously awaited the strawberries to ripen in his daughter’s patch and the many cakes Lou mad for him. You could always count on him to tell about the many adventures his son encountered on the road.
Never miss a local story.
