Madge Davis Woodall, 84, of Princeton went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening, May 12, 2015. Mrs. Woodall was born October 19, 1930 and grew up in the Brogden Community of Johnston County. She was the daughter of the late John Richard Davis and Rushia Ann Overman Davis. The funeral service will be conducted on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Princeton Baptist Church at 6:00 pm with the Reverend Dwayne Batten and Reverend Jeff Daughtry officiating. The burial will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 11:00 am in Princeton Cemetery.
She was a graduate of Princeton High School Class of 1949 where she was the Valedictorian of her class and played varsity basketball. After graduation, she began working for Carolina Power and Light Company in Raleigh. She was later employed for more than 25 years with the Johnston County School System, working as a teacher assistant at Princeton School. On January 14, 1956, she married James Raeford Woodall. She was a member of Princeton Baptist Church for over 55 years, serving in many capacities including teaching Sunday School, G. A. Leader, Vacation Bible School Leader and a member of Winsome Adult Woman's Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her husband, James Raeford Woodall; son and daughter-in-law, James Raeford Woodall, Jr. and wife, Linda of Hillsborough; daughter, Lynn Woodall McCoy of Hillsborough; grandchildren, Handley Elizabeth Woodall and Bryan D. McCoy; brother and sister-in-law, John Shelton Davis and wife, Louise of Smithfield; sisters and brother-in-law, Gail D. Radford and husband, Aubrey of Kenly; Carol Barber of Princeton; Wilma Hollyday of Magnolia, Texas; sister-in-law, Nettie Woodall of Lincolnton; as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend special gratitude to Mrs. Woodall's nephew and primary physician, Hal B. Woodall M. D. and the entire staff of Kenly Medical Clinic.
